Cesária Évora is one of the most important names in Cape Verdean music. During the time he performed, he made Morna and Coladera, two music styles native to Cape Verde, known to the whole world.

The Cesária Évora Museum
Given the importance of Cesária Évora ‘s life and work in Cape Verdean music and culture, there is a museum dedicated to honor her in the city of Mindelo, where she was born and where she died.
In this museum you can see photos of Cesária Évora’s career, as well as see some of the dresses she wore, and better understand the life of an artist who took Cape Verde further and is today, part of the history of her country and her people!
The museum is located in the center of Mindelo, in a Neo-Classical building from colonial times, which was later reconverted into a museum.
